Today will start what I hope starts a long string of posts on Fridays that directly address what I often hear from folks, typically atheists, when discussing man’s depravity and how Jesus is the only true Savior from our sin.
I don’t do this just to rattle anyone’s cage but to get atheists to really examine their logic, as it’s flawed. I truly love atheists. I care about them so much that I don’t want them to go to hell for eternity.
A popular argument that atheists use is the one of relativism. It goes like something like this, “Well, that might be true for you, but not for me.” Or, “You can’t tell others what’s true for them.” The easisest way to refute this is to ask, “Do you believe in absolute truth?” Or say, “Frankly, it doesn’t matter what you believe. It only matters if what you believe is true.”
I came across a video that I believe shows how absurd relativism is but in a fun way. Check it out.
I welcome comments here, from atheists and believers alike. I will do my best to answer all comers honestly and gracefully. Have a great weekend everyone!

That’s not what relativism is. Why do you Christians fail at basic arguments on every level?
Relativism does NOT say that “whatever you claim as true is true for you.”
There are some things that are absolutely true, such as “2+2=4″, and there are some things that are relatively true, such as “pizza tastes good.”
You are trying to make fun of an argument that nobody is making. That is called a “straw man.”
Doc,
Again, I appreciate your input. Your comment fails right at the beginning. You can’t lump Christians together as failing “at basic arguments on every level”. That is an untrue absolute statement. Ironic since you were discussing relativism.
Have a great one!
I noticed you didn’t respond to my point that this is not what relativism is, and there are some things that are absolute and some things that are relative. Instead, you picked out a piece of hyperbole that I used and used it against me as if I meant it literally, which is an intellectually dishonest tactic.
Why must Christians *generally* dodge debate instead of directly responding to it? You’re dodging it.
