Gabe Lyons takes the task of explaining how a new brand of Christians is emerging and turning the definition of what it means to be a Christian on its head in his book The Next Christians.
To be frank, I never really got that interested in his claims because in the third chapter, Gabe describes Christians’ interaction with the world as separatist or cultural. Under each of those headings are descriptions of people that are complete one sided characterizations of people that are so slanted that they could only exist in the extreme world of pushing an agenda. I feel that Mr. Lyons takes a lot of time of constructing straw men to knock down in order to bring his other category, restorers, into the limelight.
It’s no doubt that Mr. Lyons takes a lot of time in researching his assertions, but his assertions come off as him pushing an agenda while he’s claiming that he’s doing nothing but making observations.
Didn’t like it at all.
I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
